FAMILY Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has been signed up to host next year's Oscars ceremony.

The comic, who also directed and co-wrote this summer's hit film Ted, said it was "an overwhelming privilege" to be asked to present the bash.
Oscars bosses told in a statement how pleased they were to be working with the funnyman, saying: "We are thrilled to have Seth MacFarlane host the Oscars.
"His performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh.

"He will be the consummate host, and we are so happy to be working with him."
And Seth was equally thrilled to be offered the opportunity, saying: "It's truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars.
"My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don't find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast."
The announcement comes just a few weeks after Seth won praise for hosting Saturday Night Live, with a performance that saw him impersonating US swimmer Ryan Lochte.
He follows this year's presenter, Hollywood icon Billy Crystal.
The When Harry Met Sally Star won praise for his skits on the evening's nominated films - but others were put off by his dated jokes and slow-paced delivery.
